Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are a UK Government-funded initiative in collaboration with selected UK universities.

Since its establishment in 1959, over 30,000 individuals have been recipients of a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship, with 28,500 of them funded by the UK government through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC). The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is financially supported by the Government of the UK and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

Eligibility Criteria: To apply for these scholarships, applicants must:

Have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country.
Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
Be available to start academic studies in the UK, or remotely if required, by the start of September/October.
Hold at least an upper second-class (2:1) standard, or a second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification.
Applicants should not have studied before in other European countries.

Selection Criteria: Applications will be evaluated based on the academic merit of the candidate and the potential impact of the study on the development of the candidate’s home country.
